After years of reflection I've come to terms with Indian views on society. They are quite different from the West. I often advise my Western friends to read the history of Rome and Greece before coping with the manners of this endless country. The documentary "India's Daughter" questions Indian views on womanhood from the standpoint of the Human Rights Chart. Manners inherited by tradition are suddenly scrutinized, with no other support than "that's the way it has been". Something similar happened in Colombia, where in the 1990s militaries of rank educated in the ideals of the Belle Epoque perpetrated crimes against humanity. Ancient India may have to cope now with the ideals of the French revolution: Liberté, égalité, fraternité.
